| My Status Report, Sir, Ma'am! |
In no particular order...
- My mountain of laundry is done. It took a lonnnnnng time. And just in time, since a horde of others in my building had the same idea to do their wash, too.
- A coworker has gone off to her new gig. I wish her the best of luck.
It was also the first occasion I've sipped an alcoholic beverage in a while... I've still not changed my mind that alcohol tastes horrible. Pleh! However, as in my comment to The Phosgene Kid, A restaurant chain in town, Heartland Brewery has come up with a new beer concoction. I'll have to try it out and see. Stay tuned. A freelancer is covering while the boss sees if there's the possibility of a staff position for the guy. - Another coworker will be on break this upcoming week.
- My brief jaunt to purchase discount movie tickets yesterday turned into an all afternoon-early evening trek with me mum, during which we walked a little over 3 miles, had dinner at a fusion, pan Asian restaurant, window shopped, and came away with a pair shiny things -- 1 for her and 1 for me.
The discounted movie ticket prices went up by $7 per pack of 10 tickets, and the fee for theatres in Manhattan went up 50 cents per ticket. So, instead of paying the full $10.75 per ticket, we have to wait 10-14 days to use our discount tickets ($6.20 vs the previous $5.50), then pay an additional $1.50 (vs the previous $1) if we go to a Manhattan theatre... all of which means we pay $7.70, $3.05 cents less than full price. On our way home, we saw a car with a license plate reading, "H pylori." I cracked up and had to explain to Mum what it is. My company will be cutting short one business day this week for mandatory attendance at an offsite agency social. The following day, however, will be a huge day on one of my accounts, which will have multiple submissions to the client. Why do I have the feeling my team and I will be shlepping back to the office from this get-together for a very late night? Again. - I couldn't think of a solution to me attending the job fair in the middle of the day without lying or sneaking involved, so I am taking a half day instead. I've decided what I'll wear, but the suit jacket might be an issue since I've gained a ton of weight while working at this place. Believe me, I'd go business casual, but they specifically mentioned donning business attire. I hate wearing professional clothes (look great, yes, but nothing is as comfortable as tees, sweats, jeans, shorts), which is a reason all my beautiful suits are virtually brand new.
- I've been in conversation with someone from an executive recruiting service. He sounds very, very good and I was extremely impressed with his company's credentials. I'm very excited about my prospects but I need to check on fees before I leap forward. While I agree I am my own best investment, and I've been pretty versatile in my career choices (short-lived though some have been), taxes took a chunk of change last month. Wish me luck, please!
On a superstitious note, 3 horrors! cope! and 1 fortune cookie appear to be giving me the thumbs up. On the other hand, those things tend to be a weeeeee bit unreliable.

Fortune cookie fortunes are fun. I always add the phrase "in my pants" at the end of the fortune. I guess that shows my faith in them - the fortunes, not my pants. I did get to tease the server in the Thai restaurant when she handed me a fortune cookie with the bill - I asked her if this had a Tahi fortune in it.
Thanks for the link.
Sometimes the company that hires you will pay the agency's fee, but if you don't work out (nt that you wouldn't, mind you)they may nail you with that fee when you leave. Read the fine print.
Good luck!!

Good luck T. Also, don't try to hard to enjoy the alcohol, you're probably better orf without it anyway!xxx

Lol. I like fortune cookies if they're crunchy. The fortunes themselves are a bit inscrutable, lol. ;-)
You're welcome.
Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. This recruiter is actually somewhat different. I'll learn more details when I sit down with him next week. :-)
Thank you, Charlie and Fuffster! :0)
And alcohol... pleh. lol. Still gotta try that new brew. Stay tuned!
