Love in a Fallen City

Last night, Mum took me to another charity event, this time a play, Love in a Fallen City, which was performed to benefit New York Downtown Hospital's (NYDH) Chinese Community Partnership for Health (CCPH) and thankfully had an electronic board with subtitles.

The Hong Kong Repertory Theatre has and is performing this play for other charities in other cities as well, including Toronto and Beijing. Note: this theatre's Website is in Chinese (I can't help you there, sorry), but the site of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York is in English.

The play was excellent, marred only by 2 separate instances of cell phones ringing and only silenced after a long while (how RUDE!). Afterward, Mum and I had dinner at a nearby Thai restaurant, Red Garlic (formerly Siam Inn) which is one of our favorite places. Another Thai place, its sister restaurant, Siam Inn II, is 2 blocks down and equally delish.

    The play sounds great.

When I come across English unfriendly sites I use Babel Fish to translate the site. Just google Babel Fish - it is a free utility that allows you to either enter blocks of text to translate, or translate an entire site. I use it to decode Die Murane's stuff, though it doesn't like the Swiss version of German too much...

    It was a very well-done play. :-)

I used to use Babel Fish but then the site disappeared for a while and came back user unfriendly, then got revamped again, so I got tired of it and went elsewhere, lol.

As for Die Murane's stuff and your responses... dang! Here I thought you really were proficient in German! lol. Good on you, PK!

I only leanrned enough German to leave me babling like an autistic 9 month old. I could speak pretty well with the Turkish Kebab guy in German though - he must have taken the same course I did.
