With such advances in medicine. I can't figure out why a cure for this disease can't be found.

Every 5 seconds a child dies of starvation. Every 2 seconds a human being dies of aids, starvation or water bourne illness. Life is a gift.

Mummified: Yes, it is extraordinarily sad, however, I am happy to see that they are taking steps, and have had some success, in curbing the spread of the disease, unlike Africa, where some of the heads of state can't even agree on what causes AIDS.

Dirk: You're absolutely right. It works as well as the war in Iraq is going. Even better, actually.

Angel, Jr., a cure can't be found because 1/ many people are indifferent to the sufferings of others or believe that this disease is a "leveler"; in other words, those who get the disease deserve to; 2/ governments have not lived up to their promises and do not make this a priority; 3/ many men, and women, act out of ignorance and/or are unwilling to change their behavior or accept responsibility for the spread of this disease; and 4/ HIV, as you know, is pretty adept at adapting to what medical advances have come up with.

FairScaPe: Life is indeed a gift. I could throw in the murder, domestic abuse, child abuse, etc, statistics in, too, but it would only emphasize the fact that life isn't cherished as much as it should be.
