I hear Rowling was eating out of trash bins before her Harry Potter days. Glad Gardner recovered from such a horrendous childhood, many dont.

It is only love that gives meaning to our lives. What an amazing man and wonderful father. Thank you for sharing this.

PK: I hadn't heard that about Rowling, but I know she was living off welfare and very, very poor. I am so glad she is as successful as she is, that she has found a much better husband than her first, and that she's happy. I also hope all this is not just the public face but really true (that's she happy, etc).

Mummified, PK, and Schnubel: I'm also heartened and glad that Gardner overcame such hardships and I think that he's proof not only of the power of a father's (parent's) love, but of what can be achieved as long as one is willing to do what it takes to succeed.

I wish I knew what became of his son, though, where he is now, what he's doing.

And thank you all for taking the time to read this lovely story.
