Americas Most Wanted has established "Family Guard Dog" a website where you can see all the registered pervs that live near you including what they did and their name, address, and picture.

Also, there are a lot of groups trolling the chat rooms for these a-wipes, luring them into police traps. The only problem is I don't think they should ever be allowed out in public again. You can't tell me a stint in jail is going to magically cure them of their taste for young kids.

Tea, thanks for this. Although I find it stomach churning reading, it is really important that all mummies know enough to protect their kiddies. Mummified's own mummy thinks I am upsetting myself unneccesarily by reading up on this topic but better to be safe than sorry.

I watched either Dateline or 20/20 in which they were catching these on-line predators.
There is something wrong with perverts getting sexual pleasure from children.

I really hate how when parents think it is up to "nanny" computer programs or the government to protect their children. Parents have to monitor their children's web surfing just as they would a child's whereabouts.

I used to live in Naperville. Glad to see their city web site is still a good resource.

I have three girls ages 11 through 15. You want to bet I invade their privacy by recording their IMs, and watch over their shoulders when they're in chat rooms. Kids are so trusting, and the filth that takes advantage of this should be shot, or better yet, taken on a special "hunting trip" I could arrange.

    Good work, T&B,etc.

Doc, Chloe, Mummified: You're most welcome. Got to keep our kids safe from the monsters.

Phosgene Kid: Awesome info, thank you. Going to add that as an addendum as soon as I find the link. Do you have it? :-)

Unfortunately, I don't think it's as simple as jail time 'curing' sex offenders, of any sort. There are too many who have had jail time only to be released and commit the same types of crimes again.

Angel, Jr, I absolutely agree, although my loathing and disgust are for all types of sexual predators.

Sarah: Yes! Parents should be proactive about this! And Naperville's Web site is definitely an excellent resource.

Nanuk: Thanks very much. As for privacy and kids -- for this type of thing, there's no such thing as privacy. If I had children and someone attempted to prey on them... well, let's say I'd end up doing jail time myself.
