Has Spring Truly Arrived?
Or is it all a huge cruel joke?

The weather has been topsy turvy for months now, sultry one moment, frozen the next.

Today, the temps are slated to reach a high of 72F (22C), so I'm in shorts and tee, and sockless in my fave loafers. Whoo hoo!

However, it had not reached that height when I left home, so I got many a stare as I walked to the train station, got on the train, left the train station, and walked to work. Almost everyone I saw had a heavy coat and warm clothing on.

Guess that truly does make me a freak, eh?

I moved to AZ last summer and around about October the temperature finally dropped. But I kept right on wearing tee shirts and shorts. Then one day I was in the Target store, and I got that sinking feeling, as if I was entirely out of place.

I looked around and realized that everyone else had on trousers and some people had jackets on. It was like 72 degrees was cold or something.

Most places in the US you can tell spring has arrived by the sighting of the first Robin. Here in Az it is when you see the first motor homes heading back North. That'd be grampy and grammy heading back to Chicago for the summer.

Lol, Sarah. I've a friend who moved to Florida from NYC over 10 years ago. Now when she visits, even in the summer when the temps are 70-80-ish, she's still freezing. Meanwhile, I'm in shorts, tees, sandals. :-)

Wow, PK, you had me going there. I was going to go all agog at the lovely image of robins and other nature critters, then you totally walloped me with the motor homes, lol.

To be honest, it was around 50F when I left home Friday morning, so it was a bit nippy out, but certainly not enough to garner me the stares I did. Perhaps it was the sight of my winter-pale skin. Tee hee!
